Shusuke Ueda
Biography
Shusuke Ueda , better known as Syu (シュウ Shū) is a Japanese musician, known for being the founder and guitarist of the power metal band Galneryus . He has participated in bands such as Spinal Cord , Animetal (Heavy Metal), Valkyr (Power Metal) and Aushvitz (Power Metal). Aside from his talents as a guitarist, he doesn't hesitate to sing whenever he has the opportunity, in the form of guttural choruses in Galneryus and as lead vocalist in Spinalcord. He has recorded many DVD demos for specialized magazines and even a VS with guitarist Jani Liimatainen , former guitarist of Sonata Arctica . As an extra fact, he said in an interview that he got into the world of music thanks to the Japanese group X Japan , a band he admires and that served as an influence for the young musician. Syu played drums at the time, but when he saw Yoshiki (leader of that band) he said he couldn't reach his level, so he looked for another instrument, which was the guitar, he went from acoustic to electric, until he reached the level of being called "Virtuoso." Syu belongs to the group of virtuoso guitarists from Japan , in which he shares positions with Hisashi Takai, Satoshi Katada, Norifumi Shima (Concerto Moon), Hizaki and Teru (VERSAILLES) Tomoaki Ishizuka, Gentaro Satomura, Takayoshi Ohmura, Akira Takasaki (Loudness) among others. Syu has his own line of ESP guitars , called "Crying Star." He currently uses Orange brand amplifiers.
